Advert & Search Watching

One of the things about owning your own Internet domain is that you can look at lots of stats. These tell you such exciting information such as the percentage of visitors that are using Firefox.

Yet among the dry statistics there are other more interesting entertainments. Anyone who has used Google will know that sometimes our search results take us places that are of no use whatsoever.

It's rather gratifying to see users arrive on the site to find information on exactly the subject they were searching on. Though if it's Tim Lahaye that keeps visiting the site via vanity searches (searching for his own name) he's probably not going to be very pleased.

Some of the most interesting search queries are the ones that make you wonder how on earth they actually found this site via the search. One wonders how a search engine thought this site was relevant when searching for such phrases as:

  • Elton John free nude pictures
  • Jeremy Sumpter puking
  • Derby porn blog
  • Hedgehog travel diaries
  • Dave Gilmour paisley bus driver

Well if you searched for those, I'm sorry you didn't get what you were looking for. Of course now I've mentioned those phrases I've made it more likely that such searches would come back here again.

Thankfully though I've seen plenty of traffic looking for information on just this kind of thing. Hopefully that page will have reassured a few guys searching for information on a delicate subject.

Another fun game to play, and the last link shows it well, is seeing what the advertising on the blog comes up with. Supposedly it's based on the page content, but it's not always accurate and can come up with some rather funny advertising suggestions by misreading the page.

    tight shorts
    simon hillson teeth pictures
    gilbert the saxon

    and, er...

    ...harry neary!

Dude, I am The Hedgehog Travel Diaries. How the hell did I ever get confused with your site. Way to go. Life in the fast lane.
