And Now I Can Say It...
...We're getting married this month.
Crikey that has come round fast. Yes we're finally into September and in just a few week's time my beloved L and I will tie the knot. Long time readers might remember a cryptic little post at the very beginning of 2005. Who knew all that time ago that here we'd be on the verge of getting married.
The plans are pretty much coming together despite some setbacks. We're going to struggle with a few things - most notably paying for the catering and not being able to afford a DJ at all (thanks to the thieving gits at a Doncaster purveyor of crash-happy console add-ons) but we think we've managed to put a good do together for our guests.
It also seems L has found someone to make alterations to her dress. As you can read in her post, the dressmaker that supplied the dress made a real hash of things. But our caterer introduced her to someone who can turn the dress into something L would really like.
Now that L can wear something more traditional after all, I've got to change my own clothing plans for the happy event. It's a bit short notice but I am glad L's been able to get things sorted. So tomorrow morning I'm off to a local shop to take a look at their wedding attire. I quite fancy going for a frock coat, but we'll just have to wait and see what they have.
Alas my sister and her husband aren't able to attend the wedding. It's a very sad situation caused by a very happy event. They are expecting the arrival of their first born, yes I'm about to become an uncle, only a week or so before our wedding. That really leaves no time for recovering and it's a bit much to put a newborn through a trip like this. We're trying to think of ways of bringing the wedding to my sister and might end up phoning her the ceremony or something. Another thing we're considering is having some sort of blessing ceremony up north at some point for folks who couldn't make it down to our wedding. Anyway, it is sad they can't make it but totally understandable.
From an initial invite of 80 people we've actually got about 53 coming along, not bad considering most of my guests will be travelling over 200 miles and will have to pay for a hotel here. And the clock is ticking, it's only a few weeks ago now, as I said, we're getting married this month.
