Four Miracles and a Funeral...
Well the funeral went as well as funerals go I guess. A sad affair but one also with a lot of laughter as we remembered uncle A. I'd like to thank those of you who emailed to offer their condolences, it's much appreciated.
And what of those miracles? If I'm going to use a numerical reference to a Richard Curtis movie I should really come good on the promise shouldn't I?
Firstly there's the contact lens episode. L learned the hard way on Wednesday about taking a contact lens out of her eye on a windy day. So there we were stalking around a dingy subway in Stockport looking for a tiny lens that could have been in Latvia by then, such was the strength of the wind. But L being a smart lass (she is with me after all) had a word with the management and almost immediately my terrible eyes (I didn't have my lenses in) spotted the offending little lens and order was restored to the H&L universe. That's the Stockport Triangle for you.
Secondly I've not been paid yet this month. My invoice went off a bit late and the company was looking to restore a different date to my payments anyway so I fear I'm not going to have any money until the end of the month. Normally this would be fine, but I spent all my money on last month's holiday and don't have any left. This is, of course, a bit crap. It makes me feel really pathetic really.
There is the added problem of bills that need to be paid, one overdue and another that I completely forgot about until I just listened to an answer phone message. Alas this was from a company that doesn't do "nice". Yet having just spoken to both companies they were super nice about it all and are quite happy to wait until the end of the month for the money, bless their cotton socks.
Thirdly over the last few days we heard news that friends S & C have just been blessed with a baby. It's great news and mother and baby J are doing well, though I am informed the father has changed a nappy for the first time and had to go for a lie down.
And the fourth miracle is something that L really wished for before we went away on holiday that is now making a difference in the life of someone very close to her.
So there we go...one sad day, but so much to celebrate, both big and small.
