Really Hacked Off

My day was starting rather well, lovely smiles from the twins, happy phonecall from RJ.

And then the post arrived.

Including a letter from some debt collection agency wanting some money from a debt from years ago, that to be honest, I'd forgotten all about.

It's not a lot of money, but not something I could pay in one go. And so I phoned the company to arrange payment over a period of months.

I explained I was widowed earlier this year so we had just one income and had two small babies to look after. Did they offer their condolences or take this into consideration. Did they hell.

They wanted twice as much as I was willing to pay them.

Evil bitch on the phone wanted to know how much I earned, plus child benefits and family tax credits. I said "Do you honestly think I'd give you money meant to feed my children?" She said that I owed the money and that was that.

Evil bitch. I interrupted her at that point and said I would only communicate in writing from this point on and put the phone down.

It's not the money that's at issue, it isn't a large amount. But the totally unfeeling attitude of the bitch on the other end of the line has really pissed me off.

Here endeth the rant.

Update: Since a few of you asked. No the debt is not a problem. I can totally afford to pay it - don't worry. It's the principle of the evil bitch asking about my kid's money that hacked me off.

I suspect the problem is all the low lifes out there who would make the sort of stuff up that you've gone through to try and avoid paying anything. Doesn't excuse it mind.
