The Big News
It's pretty obvious now isn't it, given the last post?
Last Saturday I asked RJ to marry me and she made me the happiest man in the world by saying yes.
But we kept things quiet for a week because we felt that we had to talk to her parents first. I met them for the first time on Thursday and it was a rather magical meeting.
And so since then we've gone pretty much public with family and friends.
RJ is a priest in the Church of England and today I was present at a service she was leading for the first time, along with Patpat and Kitty.
So I got to meet the new church family that the three of us are going to become part of. It was a wonderful morning and everyone was so welcoming to the twins and I.
Of course we know some of you are probably thinking "isn't this a bit quick?" And our answer is no. We're not rushing into marriage, we're rushing into an engagement!
But seriously, I could not have gone into a relationship without being healed first and this is the case. RJ makes me wonderfully happy, but I was happy before I met her. Nor am I just looking for a mother for the twins, if that was the case I'd hardly pick a busy priest who works six days out of seven.
No. What RJ and I found together was a brilliant shining love, something we feel has been a gift from God in both our lives. We feel there is a rightness in everything about our relationship.
We could have waited six months to announce our engagement. But what would the point of that been? We know now how we feel, what we want from the future. So celebrate with us this wonderful thing we've found together.
And next April when we get married we'll add a "we told you so!"
RJ and I are wonderfully happy together and we just wanted to tell you all and let you share in this wonderful news.
