- Welcome to GrumpyDaddy. Here you'll find the trials and tribulations of me - Harry. During the time writing this blog I've been a single bloke, married, father of newborn twins and widower, husband and father again. A professional writer by trade, this is the place where I exorcise (and exercise) all my personal nonsense, most often (but not limited to) my experiences as a husband and father of three children. Note - not all the grumpyness is genuine.
Random Ramblings
- Rambo ReturnsAnd looks set to become the best Christian movie ever made, not that this is difficult to achieve. Lanie stopped me watching Left Behind because I was laughing so hard. Anyway, this summer sees the return of two action hero icons. John McLaine and Jo…
- I Do Love L But......that incredibly noisy pocket Pac-Man game she keeps playing is perhaps the most annoyingly noisy thing I've ever heard. I'm not sure I can cope with much more. Do you think she'd notice if I flushed it down the toilet while she was asleep?
- The Book CullI've decided after many years of book buying to finally get rid of some of them. I am someone who does actually re-read books - I really the whole Aubrey/Maturin saga every year for example - so I've long avoided divesting myself of the shelves full of n…
- The Secret AgentA rather silly spoof of the modern spy novel, with daft action aplenty and some rather terrible dialogue. Casino Square was alive; the beautiful people were out tonight. This may have been a charitable event, but the great and the good still wanted t…
- Being a MummyThere are times when being a mummy overwhelms you with frustration. My moments of extreme frustration do, however, seem to clash with a certain hormonal peak plus this week three out of the four of us have had colds - so I guess it isn't fair to call t…

- Collisions - Believe in This ReviewThe debate has recently raged at Grumpyrocker Towers about the direction of the site, but with a solution almost in sight, Jimbo has thrown a spanner in the works and is about to test the limits of what passes as metal these days with a review of Collis…
- The Wind-Up Birds - The Land ReviewThe Wind-Up Birds have been around for some time, but The Land is the Leed's based bands debut album. Promising a "cathartic post-punk racket", we sent Jimbo off to review it. Describing Haruki Murakami as "among the worlds greatest living novelist…
- Black Moth - The Killing Jar ReviewOne of the most anticipated releases to reach the Grumpyrocker offices is the debut album from Black Moth entitled The Killing Jar. The problem with hyping any album is that it will never quite live up to your expectations. After finally managing to coa…
- Villa Rise - Wastelands ReviewMaking your movement from Sydney, Australia to England in order to try and make your name in the music scene is an impressive step to take, but that's the step that hardcore punks Villa Rise took and Jimbo reviews their six track EP Wastelands after the…
- East Island City - Me and What Army? ReviewEast Island City are from Dublin and have only been around since 2010, but Me and What Army? is described a mini-album, although their debut EP received 15,000 hits so hopes are high for Me and What Army? Jimbo checks out what all the fuss is about.…

Ah come on, you can't have everything.

Fair enough Annie. I think I'd be more satisfied if we'd played better more than anything else. It was a poor spectacle really. Been quite a while since there's been a decent FA Cup final.
